Nuno Matos – Intern Developer
Welcome to week six of our ‘Get to Know Us’ series!
This week we spoke to Nuno Matos who is working as an Intern Developer at Simply Workflow.
Nuno began working at Simply Workflow in October 2022 and currently works remotely
from Coimbra in Portugal
We asked Nuno the following questions:
Can you tell me something exciting that you have worked on at Simply Workflow?
I’m still learning but I have to say that lately, I’ve been finding it fun to conduct more automated tests on the page. It’s been satisfying to see that each section has no errors when it is done correctly. Also, through this process, I’ve been able to better understand the system’s functionality, which has been helpful to me.
What career advice would you give to your younger self?
I have always loved programming so I think it would have been good to focus my studies on those specific areas. I should have spent more time studying, but school didn’t really provide me with enough tools to really do programming. I took it upon myself to learn it instead so maybe I would tell my younger self to focus more on programming and studying it earlier.
How would your friends describe you?
One part of my personality that my friends would say is my sense of humour. They would describe me as the “funny one” who can make them laugh. My friends would likely also say I ask silly questions that have no answer or are not realistic. I think they would also say that I am a good person in terms of being kind, listening to others and being there for them when I am needed.
What was your favourite subject in school? /Why?
Programming for sure because I had never looked into coding before then. I found it interesting, especially if you just miss a semi-colon somewhere and everything goes wrong because of it but then you learn more and know how to fix it, that’s why I fell in love with programming.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Definitely a laptop with a lot of games on it, an internet connection of some sort and if I can’t take a person I’d take my dog.
Which fictional movie or TV show would you want to be part of and why?
I would pick John Wick because it is thrilling and action-packed and it would be cool to be linked with such a legendary character. I would hope to be on the side that supports and cares for him, rather than the side that is trying to harm him though.
Pineapple on pizza. Yes or no?
Yes! I like the mixture of flavours and textures when pineapple is on pizza, it’s sweet, spicy and crunchy at the same time which I find to be more interesting.
Thank you for reading this week’s Get to Know Us and thank you to Nuno for chatting with us this week. Come back next week when we will be talking to Cathal Creedon who is a Software Development Engineer at Simply Workflow.
